Why we do what we do

I have passion for optimal health as it affects so many things in life, productivity, academic achievement, relationships, mental well-being and happiness.

Most of us just get by, busy with our daily routines and do not consciously think about health, yet it is the most crucial element to life. It has taken millions of years to fine tune our bodies to the state it is in, but there are many ways it can still improve.

We are gifted with a conscious brain that can make choices, that will improve us tremendously in the present instead of waiting thousands of years for natural corrections. Our health choices are shaped by our community, family and aggressive marketing that bombard us daily. Some of these messages about what is the right way to live are skewed.

Is sugar free the right way or fat free? Is exercising hard a good thing? Is working long days make us most productive? What about our children. Should they tough it out or should we be treating them for every symptom.

By observing and treating my patients for over 30 years I have gained a tremendous insight into how the human body and mind function. There are inherent variations in everybody based on their genes and environment, so no cookie cutter recipe works for everyone.

I spent the first 10 years of my professional life as an internist as I wanted to learn and gain experience treating a wide range of disorders.

Only then did I go back and do a Fellowship in allergy, asthma and immunology.

Allergies and asthma run in my family even in the days when hardly anyone had them. I suffered from asthma as a child and remember waking up at night scared as I just couldn’t breathe or going home early from school as my eyes were swollen shut from pollen allergy.

I was curious to figure out why something so harmless to most people was so deadly to others. Minor aberrancies in our immune system cause reactions to harmless substances that can be detrimental to our health whether it is anaphylaxis, food allergies, asthma, sinus disease, environmental, chemical allergies or drug allergies.

Figuring it out and guiding you in ways that can change your immune system to be more tolerant or block it with the least dosage of medications so that your quality of life will be amazing is our mission.
